TVS has launched the Jupiter scooter in thefast growing Indian automatic scooter market. Jupiter will be their third automatic scooter after Scooty and Wego and will compete primarly against the Honda Activa.
The Jupiter is built on the Wego platform and is mainly targetted at male customers. It has the same 110cc single cylinder aluminium engine from the Wego that is mated to a CVT transmission for a fuel efficiency of 62 Kmpl. It gets twin city lamps and LED tail lamps, 12 inch black alloy wheels, external fuel filler at the rear like the Wego, a full space helmet storage space under the seats, a mobile charging point. The Jupiter alo has pass lights and an ‘Economter’ that guides riders to choose between eco and power modes.
TVS chief Venu Srinivasan said, “The company will have 20,000 Jupiters ready by Diwali to cash in on the festive season with 4,000 units already shipped to dealers. To begin with, the Jupiter will be sold in the north of India, soon to be followed by a southern India launch around Diwali”.
The Jupiter will be availbale in four colours of white, black, red and grey. It is priced at INR 44,200 (Ex-showroom New Delhi).
