Sony launched their flagship smartphone Xperia Z in India with a price tag of INR 38,990, Xperia Z will be available in stores from March 12. The main feature of the phone is its water, dust proof capability.
Today Katrina Kaif, Sony India's new brand ambassador launched the Xperia Z. “There are many features of the phone that I like — like the amazing camera. But, I most like the fact that I can actually put it in water, so I can take it while swimming. It’s a fun feature,” she said.
Sony is trying to regain their lost place in the Indian market with this model. During the launch, Managing director Kenichiro Hibi, Sony India said, “We plan to establish Xperia Z among the top 3 smartphone brands in India. We want to exploit the business foundation we have and will make Xperia one of the biggest categories in Sony India.”
“Sony India has established market leadership in BRAVIA and CyberShot and we aim to replicate the same success with the Xperia range. The launch of Sony Xperia Z today, is the start of our journey to triple the Xperia sales in India, to Rs. 3,500 crore,” Hibi added.
The new Xperia Z is powered by Sony’s best platforms like BRAVIA HD display, CyberShot camera and Walkman music. Sony Xperia Z gets a 1.5 GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core processor and Jelly Bean operating system. The Adreno 320 is the GPU used in Xperia Z.
The Xperia Z comes with a 5-inch full HD capacitive touchscreen with screen resolution of 1920 x 1080. The device contains 2GB RAM and 16GB of memory along with an expandable card slot upto 32GB via a microSD card. Xperia Z Supports 4G/LTE, it also supports NFC (supports Near field communications).
Xperia Z comes with water and dust-resistant protection. The 13.1 mega pixel primary camera produces good quality images, a 2.2 mega pixel front facing camera is also on the list.
